What a loss! I admit I missed him, in Y2, and was annoyed that his absence was never explained.
As the utterly brilliant scientist, he was perfectly cast. I wish we had seen him play that violin in his quarters, now and then. I wonder if it was a Stradiverius, or a Guinari del Gesu?

Violin? Did he have a violin in his quarters? I missed that scratch Very annoying that his disappearance wasn't explained in the series though on one of the websites it does say that an explanation was in the original script but this never made it onto the episode. I'm looking forward to reading more about his disappearance in Roberts book Destination Moonbase Alpha. Heck, they did away with half of the main mission personnel, what happened to Paul, Kano, etc etc. and where did those other people spring from!

Sullivan played his zither-type instrument, in TTS. One wonders if Bergman ever regaled the theatre goers with his violin, on some less horrid occassion?

I've heard that Victor's ability to play the violin was to be touched on at some point, but they never followed through on it. It's too bad. I missed Victor in Yr 2 as well...It could have been fascinating to see his interactions with Maya (if the scripts had been good enough, most of Yr 2 really missed the mark). Although, I think Barry would have been very disappointed with the Yr 2 scripts (just as Martin, Barbara, Nick, Catherine, Anthony and practically everyone else were).

His death was a great loss to the world of acting and I know many fans will miss him and his work.

Well spotted s99fan, I've watched that episode countless times and never noticed the violin!

Everyone interested in Barry Morse should know about his website at www.barrymorse.com . There is also a Facebook group for him, and a Yahoo Group (although I think Yahoo Groups in general are dying out, and being replaced by forums like this one).

On www.barrymorse.com you will see a link for a new book we've just released on Barry. It's a coffee table sized photo book. It's expensive, but it's SO worth every penny! It's only been made available to family and friends as a little tribute to Barry, but we're leaving it available for a little while so some fans who care about Barry will be able to order a copy. It is an absolute treasure, and is my own personal favorite of all the books I worked on for and with Barry.

Edited to add: I would upload a picture of it here, but I can't seem to figure out how! scratch

In the quick reply box at the bottom of the screen, click on the 7th button from the left (or 5th from the right) and a small dialogue box pops up. Simply post your http link there and press 'ok'.

Ok, then you need to upload it to one of the photo hosting services. Photobucket is one I can vouch for. It's free and easy.

Sorry guys - can't seem to make it work. You'll have to go look at the pics on the Barry Morse page. Look for this link:

The link is above in this thread. I'd already posted it in this message:

Apologies. I was hasty and did not read carefully enough. This is a well done and very informative site. I did not realize his adult daughter had predeceased him. Very sad.
