Space 1999 Network DVD Set Review Empty Space 1999 Network DVD Set Review

Post by Jack18 Thu Oct 28, 2010 8:49 am

hi all

i have now finished watching the network dvd set of Space 1999 and there is only three words to describe it I Love It!!!. The sound and picture quality was first rate. Network did a really good job on all the episodes. the text commetaries on the last sunset and space brain were good. as was the audio commetaries by Gerry Anderson on Breakaway and Dragon's Domain. the special features on the last disc were good as well. i liked the this episodes featurette. overall i would give this set 10/10.

Andrew
a very pleased Space 1999 fan Very Happy

Agreed. I am greatly looking forward to the Blu-Ray discs to see how Network can exceed themselves.

My ONLY criticism of the Network dvd box set is the struggle to release the discs from their holders without breaking them. Hopefully this will not be the case with the blu-ray set.

Yes, some discs are so difficult to get out, others work themselves loose and arrive rattling around in the case.

The Blu-ray discs are now being mailed out by Network. I am anticipating the arrival of my set soon.

I'm maybe thinking of getting a Blu-Ray player but I'm afraid I'm a complete novice as far as they're concerned. Do you need a HD TV to view Blu-Ray discs, and if you haven't got a HD TV is it really worth getting a Blu-Ray player??? Any help gratefully received!

I've decided not to bother with blu-ray for the moment. Maybe when my DVD player dies, I'll get one then. No HD telly yet though. The DVD set was already fantastic quality - and I really not yet ready to buy this series for a fourth time!

For real ? Not even with the 1900 or so extra photos included in the extras ?

Jack18, you can deliberately and carefully break the restraining center then remove the discs, as I did. Once I got the dvds out, I left them out. I have each in its own thin jewel case.

I must be very lucky then as my 2005 set has a button to press which releases each disc rather than struggle with them! Then again my Adam Adamant set and Invaders sets are a nightmare to get out and probably why I don't watch them very often!
