Network DVD sets Empty Re: Network DVD sets

They used to be available from Network DVD at http://www.networkdvd.net/ but when I did a search just now no results were showing, so I'm not sure if they are still available from this company.

I've just checked and they are however available from Play.com at http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/705154/Space-1999-Complete-Series-1/Product.html?ptsl=1&ob=Price&fb=0. This is the set released by Network and are thoroughly recommended, much better (in my opinion) than the Carlton season two DVDs.

Network pulled the set several weeks ago after having it at a clearance price point for a short time. What I am wondering is whether or not they will ever publish the HD version. Someone must have those rights, but I am uncertain as to whom.

I'd like to see Network produce Season 2 DVDs. I have the Carlton box set season 2 and the quality is inferior to that of the Network season 1 set. I think I saw something about Network doing season 2 on their website but wonder if that will happen.

Good luck with the ebay bid! Just in case...the set on Play.com is the Network DVD set (excellent quality) and it's £25.87 for 7 discs (free delivery), so pretty good value. Just a thought to bear these in mind incase the ebay bid isn't successful!

hi

i won on the ebay bid but what it is now the seller who i am getting the set off is being a bit funny about payment. i have told the seller that i do want this item. when i do receive the network dvd set of Space 1999 i don't know really what to do about the carlton dvds(i've got the carlton first series set) i don't know whether to keep that or not.

The image quality is suburb, unmatched even, and the extras respectable. The weakest points are the bland menus and the horrible packaging. Perhaps the best 'special features' are the Clapperboard episode I vaguely recall as a child, the 'These Episodes' featurette, the unused SFX montage and the excellent booklet that comes enclosed. For more information, see the review in The Catacombs': http://www.space1999.net/catacombs/main/merc/vmvdvduk2.html

If I may put in a request, Andrew. Adding standard capitalizations and punctuation will make your entries easier to follow. Not all of us are native English speakers and nonstandard 'slang' typing can make understanding your intent difficult.

Hi Andrew,

the quality of the Network DVD set of Space 1999 is excellent. Very crisp, sharp colour. Far superior to the Carlton Season 2 box set. Well worth getting the Network box set, you won't be disappointed.

hi

have received the boxset and i watched the first episode Breakaway. the picture quality is incredible so much better than the Carlton release. what i liked as well is at the begining of the episode you can see where they put the Nuclear waste cannisters and where they are put in the carlton dvds you could just about see that. the Network version is so much better. i look forward to watching all the episodes. the colours are so vibrant. The UFO dvds were done so much better than the Space 1999 dvds that carlton did.

Glad to hear you received the Network DVDs, and I knew you would be pleased with the quality. They really are superb quality. My only hope now is that Network produce Year 2 as I would definitely buy them even though I have Year 2 from Carlton.

Andrew, just had a read on the box of the Network DVDs and it mentions newly remixed Dolby 5:1 tracks so I'm assuming by that they mean that some remastering of sound took place. I know Dolby is the noise reduction system so I'm guessing the sound was cleaned up.
