Would you want to live on Alpha?
Pre-Breakaway, of course.
Would you like that sort of thing? Living in space, working and such in a lunar base? Why, or why not?

Most certainly. The challenge of a new environment, 'pushing the envelop' as it is said.

Why the frak not?! Alpha probably has the best artificial gravity and artificial biosphere in the solar system (when it was in the solar system)!
Re: Would you want to live on Alpha?
I guess I'd like to work there, it'd be fascinating at first. Eventually, the novelty of being in space might wear off, if it turns out to be all drudge work, mere feet away from a fatal vacuum.
I wonder about the allure of space. Few people want to live in the Empty Quarter of the Arabian desert where people don't go because you can't survive. That has atmosphere, gravity, and healthy atmospheric pressure. The Moon being much harsher, I think people would get tired of lifeless rocks and vacuum and go home. I love the idea of being in space, but once you do it, it's different.
Post-Breakaway, though everything's harder, life becomes an adventure. The Alphans are wrestling with surviving so hard that they don't stop and appreciate what an adventure they're on. That Alpha would be for me.

Living in a beige moon base with fabulous mod furnishings? Sure, why the heck not? Yes, there would be a lot of danger...But living in general can be dangerous, it doesn't matter where you are.

Good point. Just avoid Dorcons, and you should be okay.

I would absolutely love to live and work on Moonbase Alpha. I would love to fly and Eagle. Ride in a travel tube. Spin that globe in the Commander's office. Although when I rotated back to Earth at the end of my tour, I would have to smuggle a stun gun home with me. The neighbor's cat who taunts my cats through the sliding glass door would get quite a surprise...

I have a black cat, best cat w've ever had. We had a white one with a blue eye & a green eye, but she wasn't as friendly.
If I got to meet Christopher Lee, Brian Blessed & Doctor Who I could dig that. Drinking recycled water would get stale. Playing Frizbee on the Moon might be fun.

In a way, same water used over & over. Rather drink from a river than water I & others already drank.

Which is why they all went nuts when it rained.
Still, better than no water at all.

Imagine all the great lunar scenery landscape painting opportunities one would get.

I would love it definitely! Although lying on that bed, would it help my sciatica?
