Actress Carolyn Seymour is confirmed at "Space: 1999" con
On behalf of the planning committee for the upcoming “Space: 1999” convention “Journey to Where”, I am very pleased to announce that we have confirmed the attendance of our first guest, actress Carolyn Seymour, at the upcoming con!
Carolyn Seymour guest-starred in the one of the best of the Year Two episodes – as ‘Eva’ in “The Seance Spectre”. Carolyn is a British-born actress who’s genre television background also includes roles in no less than five “Star Trek” episodes on both “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and “Star Trek: Voyager”. She also appeared in “Quantum Leap” and “Babylon 5”.
To be held in Austin, Texas over the dates of July 16-18, 2010, con activities include talks, panel discussions, autograph sessions, a charity auction and more. A special off-site screening event (included in the membership fee) will also be held at the Alamo Drafthouse Theater, where two episodes of “Space: 1999” and more will be shown on the big screen. For more information on the “Journey to Where” con, go to our newly updated website at:
www.JourneytoWherecon.com
Con memberships are now available at the site. The lower membership registration fee will be available only through January 31st – so we urge you to go and signify your support by purchasing your convention membership today. We look forward to seeing you and all of our old friends in Austin this July (as well as friends we haven’t yet met!).
Sincerely,
Anthony

Welcome aboard, starparty. Sounds like a great convention, but unfortunately I'll have to wait for the next one that happens nearer to home.
Have you by any chance been on the planning committee for previous Space 1999 conventions also ? If so, please do share some stories / experiences regarding those events.

Is it just me who thinks this is a bit of a duff resume of Carolyn
Seymour's "genre" credits (whatever indeed that means)? I mean...
"Survivors" anybody?

The reference to "genre" credits (especially in a forum such as this) clearly implies credits in the science-fiction genre.
And I think that the credits mentioned are obviously not a complete listing of every sci-fi genre part Carolyn Seymour may have performed throughout her career, but it does touch on the ones of major importance to a North American audience. "Survivors", which you mention, is virtually unknown to most North Americans. Indeed, I've never seen an episode. As this convention will likely appeal most strongly to American and Canadian fans, I think it seems perfectly sensible to stress the credits they would most likely be familiar with.

Hey well, I'm not criticizing the aim/intent of the press release, just
making a comment. (What with Space: 1999 being a British show and
all... ) No need to get defensive anyone...
Though seriously, Survivors is an important and major piece of work -
and Ms Seymour playing the lead role throughout a 13 episode series is
clearly to me more important than a few supporting roles in American
sci-fi shows. (All of which I have seen incidentally.) But what the hey, no biggy.

Carolyn Seymour credits
If you visit the con website at www.JourneyToWhereCon.com, you'll note that
Carolyn's biography and credits listing is a bit longer than what I
posted above. Certainly, her contribution to "Survivors" is mentioned
there, although personally I've never seen the program. She also
co-starred in "The Bitch" with Joan Collins, although I didn't mention
that credit above, either.
In answer to another post, yes, I've had the pleasure of working on a number of previous
cons - what fun experiences we've had over the years! Particularly
notable was the presentation of the play "Love Letters" at the Los
Angeles convention with Barry Morse and Barbara Bain. I can actually
truthfully say that I've had my hands up Barbara's blouse (while
fitting her with a microphone)! LOL She was quite delightful to work
with.

Not on the front page though... Just kidding. Seriously, it's probably her single most important tv role. Some of you guys really need to check out Survivors - "acclaimed series", as you say!

Is that "genre" as well, then? I'm confused now...
Re: Carolyn Seymour at Space: 1999 Con
Carolyn Seymour is married to Seance Spectre director Peter Medak, I never knew that till this week!

I became friends with Carolyn on Facebook late last year and found her very friendly! She even sent me greetings on my birthday!
