Other favourite tv shows?
I'm just interested. What might be your favourite tv shows, (other than Space: 1999 of course)?
I find this sort of thing fascinating, to see a cross section of likes and dislikes - given we all like Space: 1999, will there be a certain correlation between the other shows we like, or will it be completely diverse? (I suspect the latter.)
I'll start, shall I? In no especial order:
Doctor Who
Blakes 7
Sapphire and Steel
UFO
Man in a Suitcase
The Avengers
The Prisoner
Babylon 5
Mission: Impossible
Secret Army
Public Eye
When the Boat Comes In
Upstairs Downstairs
Star Trek
Dad's Army

Well now, there are lots of favourites but here are some of them:
Star Trek (btw which Start Trek did you prefer) I liked the original and the Next Generation
Mission Impossible
The Champions
Ironside
Land of the Giants
Waking the Dead
High Chapparal
Bergerac (because it was filmed in Jersey!)
Crossroads (yes I was a fan of the old soap!)
I'm sure there are a lot more but I'll have to get my thinking cap on.

Well, when I say Star Trek, I always mean the original. (That said, I don't mind Next Generation and I rather like Deep Space Nine too.)

Yes, the original. The one and only.

and also the remake of 'V' - apparantly already out in the USA, but unfortunately not reaching the UK until year 2010 according to the brilliant tantalising teaser trailers on the sci-fi channel.

Re: Other favourite tv shows?
I've not seen any of those shows - in fact, I've only even heard of a couple of them. I don't watch very much current tv, and hardly any American shows. They don't seem to be on the main channels at a sensible time.
Re: Other favourite tv shows?
You are missing little by not seeing the American shows. I now live here and must say I miss the UK and European shows dreadfully.

This might sound disloyal to some but I also find that I prefer alot of British SciFi to America. Some of the British stuff just has an aura about it, that makes it so much more enjoyable.

Re: Other favourite tv shows?
I am (was) a huge fan of Battlestar Galactica (the new one). I also like FlashForward, Lost, Ugly Betty, House, and various other shows. I tried not to pick up any new shows this fall, but I caught the end of FlashForward and had to start watching it! Lost has had its ups and down, but I really liked last season and am eager to season what this season holds.

A series I just recently discovered courtesy of my partner. Very atmospheric and dark, and full of 70s character. I really enjoyed it.

And some interesting monsters/baddies. Definately a cut above the usual.

Re: Other favourite tv shows?
I love The Night Stalker... the series, not the two TV movies. Of course a remake wasn't going to work, because they always recast realistic characters with young guys who could be models. I just saw ep. 1 of the supposed Prisoner remake series, and of course, they did it again. Kolchak was middle-aged, and always struggling not to be a washed up has-been, and looked like he didn't know 20 years had passed. I'm not the slightest bit interested in the adventures of male models, or even female ones. (Current shows could be retitled "Pretty People Have Problems Too!") The humor was great too.

Re: Other favourite tv shows?
TV seems to be inbetween a lot of sci fi shows at the moment for the summer, but I am currently enjoying watching the sci fi (ish) series 'The Deep' on BBC TV at the moment.
Great tense drama, and keeps you guessing as to what's going on.

Have to disagree with you there - I thought that the recent Prisoner remake series was superb. I had low expectations, thinking - it's just going to be a copy of the original - but was pleasantly surprised - as they did a lot of different things with the story and I thought the casting / acting / and production was top quality.
And what's wrong with having good looking actors / actresses ???

Nothing. As long as they can act.

Re: Other favourite tv shows?
The Prisoner, UFO, Doctor Who, Blakes 7, The Invaders and original Star Trek.
... guess my age group from that list!
Watched most of the first series of Dollhouse but lost interest before the end. Not gripped by modern SF generally, but impressed by Wallander lately (both versions).
