That's a great link, thanks for posting. Some interesting stuff but I see what you mean about the prices!

I have three pairs of trousers and two uniform tops (one rust, one red, both mid conversions to second season style) along with three first season belts.
There used to be a shop called Bermans and Nathans just off Leicester Square in London. It was a major supplier of costumes to the British movie industry and they held a sale to reduce the number of items held in their fancy dress hire division. I remember that it wasnt a very organised sale with costumes just put in piles on the floor. They also didnt seem to appreciate the level of interest that the sale would attract from collectors back then.
I arrived too late to find any of the uniforms worn by the series regulars but have seen various items appear on ebay in recent years.
The material used for them is an itchy wool which would have been very uncomfortable to wear for very long.

Yes, on some close up shots you can see that the material is a woollen type. It must also have been very hot, especially during the heatwave which took place when filming for the second season was underway. The material was also not very forgiving for those who didn't possess sleak figures, or who had lumps and bumps in the wrong places or maybe that was part of the attraction .Zoref wrote:The material used for them is an itchy wool which would have been very uncomfortable to wear for very long.

The costumes are also very small. The actors that wore them must have been super thin.

The above actual computer panel from the set of Main Mission was sold on ebay recently for around £570. Wonderful piece of Space 1999 memorabilia.
